The Awards Committee would like to encourage each Regional Administrator to share our news and opportunities for recognizing members at regional workshops and network luncheons. The Awards Committee has been working hard to simplify the recognition process. Now it is currently easier than ever to nominate someone for “Member of the Year” or “Distinguished Service”. Nomination forms must be received by August 15th in order to be considered.
If there are members interested in serving on our committee we have several whose terms are expiring and we would love to have them join us. We typically meet two or three times a year. Meetings are normally held in the small conference room at Archives and History as that seems to be a central meeting point for all. We encourage all regions to participate so that all are represented. Anyone interested in serving should contact Judy Lucas at

The Awards Committee wanted to recognize Bob Rogers, Aiken County Records Manger, for all his hard work through the years and his devotion to SCPRA. After much discussion, it was suggested that we name an award in his honor. The Committee then discussed how innovative Bob has been with the regional concept, awards program and more. Thus, the Bob Rogers Innovation Award was established and Bob was honored as the 1st recipient. In the future, this award can be presented to any member in recognition of the development and implementation of innovative ideas that contribute to the success and well-being of the SCPRA. |

Tom Legge, South Carolina Department of Archives & History, was recognized for his years of service and dedication to SCPRA. Tom has maintained the SCPRA membership database for many years. Such information is vital to the organization, and especially to our treasurer who must monitor revenue sources such as membership dues and registration fees. Accurate membership data is also important to regional officers and the Awards Committee. Congratulations Tom, for a job well done! |

During the opening session of the annual conference, Judy Lucas, Awards Committee Chairman, announced the first recipient of the Outstanding Region Award – the Midstate Region. Regional officers were then asked to come forward to assist in distributing the recognition pins, ribbons, and other goodies to the Midstate members. Members were instructed to attach their ribbons and pins to their conference name tags as an outward display of their success. In addition, the presence of these items was their admission ticket to be first in line for meals and breaks. The Midstate Region will reap such benefits until 2010 when the next recipient is named. Way to go, Midstate! Bob Rogers, Regional Coordinator, was instrumental in acquiring an Outstanding Region flag which will also be displayed at annual conferences. Attached to the flag will be the applicable pennant representing the winning region. |
