HAPPY NEW YEAR - 2017!!  Did I get that right?!?

How many of us have written 2016?  Change is hard at times, but if we stick with it, change becomes easy.  I hope you have had a great start to a new year and that 2017 will be a banner year for you either at work, home or personally!

Here we are almost mid way thru January.  We will be conducting New Region Officer Training on January 11th for our new officers and I am looking forward to an exciting year working with this great group of people.

In February the Board of Directors as well as the Region Program Coordinators will be gathering together to put our heads together to hopefully come up with another great conference for you in October.  If you know of a great speaker or you have a specific topic you would like for us to consider for the conference please contact any of the Board of Directors to let us know.

It is with a deep sadness that I inform you of the passing of Bob Gilliam, Owner of Palmetto Microfilm and one of our top vendors with SCPRA.  Bob passed away on Sunday, December 18th  of a heart attack.  As you know, Bob (Palmetto Microfilm) has been with SCPRA since the beginning of our Association.  He has been an integral part of our Association and has donated to our hospitality suite for the past ten years $500 each year.  His wife, Maree and his daughter Lorri has assured me that they will continue to support SCPRA.

In lieu of flowers, the family has asked that a donation be made to his church’s building fund (Lexington United Methodist).  Bob was very active in his church as well as other philanthropic charities in and around Lexington, SC.  Because we cannot use the Association’s money to make a donation upon his behalf to the church I am asking that you donate any amount of money you can give and send it to Angie Kennedy; our Treasurer (make the check out to SCPRA) and she will put it in a designated account strictly set up for this purpose and then on the 8th of February, 2017 the monies received will be donated to his church’s building fund on his behalf from SCPRA.  Please keep the Gilliam family in your prayers.

The mailing address that you can send money to is:

 SCPRA / PO Box 4162 / Florence, SC / 29502

Please mark your donation for the Bob Gilliam honorarium/church building fund

 Thank You, All

Bob Rogers Innovation Award 2015 Winner Judy Lucas PDF Print E-mail

JUDY LUCAS has taken an active role with being an officer in the Midstate Region as well as becoming a member of the Board of Directors for the last 5 years. Since coming on the BOD, Judy has taken the role of Membership Coordinator seriously in taking the information from a handwritten bit of information to an electronic database, making it easy to keep up with those that are members as well as inputting the information with ease for the new members of SCPRA. By providing electronic membership information this also helps the Treasurer when it comes time to send out invoices each year for the members to renew their membership. Without Judy’s innovative ideas concerning the Association Membership, I am sure we would still be doing things by hand, making a task harder than it should be. Congratulations, Judy!

Bob Rogers Innovation Award 2015 Winner Angie Kennedy PDF Print E-mail

ANGIE KENNEDY has been an active member of SCPRA since 1996. She has served on the Board as Treasurer for several years. Angie has made some remarkable changes as acting Treasurer such as: Electronic invoicing, providing monthly statements to the Board, and led our very first audit. Angie takes her responsibilities very seriously and to heart. She would promote events on Facebook, post photos and as always made you feel included and welcomed. Angie has done a great job for the Association. Congratulations, Angie!
