Wow, Spring has sprung and we are in full bloom! The trees are full of blossoms and new leaves and the azaleas are full of buds ready to bloom, in time, hopefully, for Easter! Before you know it October will be here and it will be time for our annual SCPRA Conference. This past February the Program Coordinators from each of the Regions and several board members and one Region Administrator gathered at the Avista Resort Hotel for a 3 day Conference Planning session, working from 8:30am until, to successfully plan the upcoming Conference to be held on October 24-26, 2012. We have taken into consideration your input on what you wanted for this years conference and I feel we have fulfilled your requests. We are awaiting confirmation on a couple of items and once they have been confirmed we will post the agenda on our web page. It looks like we will have another outstanding conference this year and I look forward to seeing you at the Avista Resort Hotel. In the mean time, two of our Regions; PeeDee and Upstate will be putting on two excellent workshops in April and May respectfully. You should be receiving a brochure on these two workshops soon and we will place information on them on the web site as well. According to my calender we should be enjoying Spring. However, I do believe Summer has come early. Before we know it October will be here and so will the annual SCPRA Conference. One of the highlights of the conference is the recognition of the recipients of the "Member of the Year" award, Lindy Smith Distinguished Award, the Bob Rogers Innovation Award and certainly but not least the bi-annual "Outstanding Region Award". The Board of Directors presented Carolyn Bartley with the Lifetime Achievement Award at its December meeting, honoring her for the many years of service she has given to the SCPRA both as Board Member and active Coastal Region member.
